Archival Services Enhancement Fund created from generous donation

A big thank you goes out to Dr. Shorthouse, Professor Emeritus, formerly with the Department of Biology whose generous donation led to the creation of the The Archival Services Enhancement Fund. The goal is to equip the Archives to meet current and future needs while fostering academic collaboration and research.

Researchers are often familiar with the world of books, articles and reports but some also rely on letters, interviews, photos, journals, maps, research data, in boxes, on audio cassettes, computer hard drives or individual’s cloud storage.  This unpublished and unique material, if it has enduring and research value, is the purview of the Archives.  The mandate of Archives at Laurentian is to preserve the collective memory of the Laurentian University and the Northern Ontario communities. The Archives keeps material of enduring value from faculty members and community organizations, for example, and makes them available to researchers.

If you are interested in making a donation to the fund, contact universityadvancement@laurentian.ca.  If you would like to consider donating records or simply want to learn more about the Archives, contact the Archivist, Natasha Gerolami, at archives@laurentian.ca
