Strategic Plan 2025-2030
The strategic planning process was initiated in January 2025. It involved a LibQUAL+ survey to the University community, including students and faculty, interviews with members of the Senior Leadership team, as well as retreats with staff and librarians and archivist.
This gave birth to a new mission and vision for the Library and Archives which will be guided by values of equitable access, human connection, lifelong learning, responsiveness, and stewardship.
Our objectives and initiatives align with the University’s four strategic directions. The Laurentian University Library & Archives Strategic Plan (2025-2030) focuses on enhancing the student experience through modernized spaces and enhanced awareness of services. It also aims to energize the academic and research mission by building supports for research excellence and cultivating collections that reflect our bilingual and tricultural identity. Finally, the plan seeks to build up the communities served through reciprocal connections and strategic partnerships, while also valuing and supporting the Library & Archives team.

LibQUAL+
LibQUAL+ is a web-based survey designed by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) to assess and improve library service quality. It helps libraries understand user perceptions of service quality and identify gaps between desired and perceived service levels. The survey focuses on three core dimensions: Affect of Service (focuses on the library staff and their interactions with users), Information Control (examines the quality and accessibility of library collections), and Library as Place (assesses the library's physical environment and atmosphere).
The survey results are analyzed to generate reports used to understand user perceptions and identify areas for improvement.
