Join us for this informative presentation on copyright where Thomas Rouleau will provide an introduction to basic copyright principles, including what copyright is and what it covers, as well as copyright exceptions that are applicable in the educational context such as fair dealing. A brief discussion of other questions that faculty members may face relating to copyright, such as ownership of content and negotiations with publishers, and of emerging questions relating to artificial intelligence will also be included.

In this role, he established and has managed the University’s Copyright Office for over ten years. He holds degrees in both information studies (MIS) and law (JD and LLM with a concentration in Law and Technology) and has taught at the University of Ottawa’s School of Information Studies and Seneca College.
