As August 2015,  faculty and students in Barrie who require documents not contained within the Laurentian collection held in the Georgian College library, will receive these items directly from the J.N. Desmarais Library in Sudbury via RACER.

Articles will continue to be sent to the borrower’s Laurentian email address.

Borrowers will be pleased that documents  which are held in the Sudbury collection will be signed out in the Laurentian catalogue under the borrower’s name and the borrower will be able to renew such documents on-line under similar terms as conditions as Sudbury borrowers.

Documents originating from other libraries will also be signed out to the borrower’s library account, but with a three-week loan period with no renewals.

For all documents, two extra weeks will be added on to the loan period—one for the time required to ship the item and the second, for the time required to return it.

To avoid fines and the loss of RACER privileges, documents must be returned to Sudbury by the due date.  This means that they must be either renewed (Sudbury collections only) or returned to the Georgian Library Commons for shipping at least one week ahead of the due date.

Georgian College will no longer be offering RACER service. However, the Georgian Library Commons will continue to provide help with library resources, local research help, and serve as a pick up and return location for RACER documents.

Those who have already enrolled in RACER in Barrie have had their accounts transferred to the Sudbury site.
