Hours of Operation

The J.N. Desmarais Library, including the Archives, and the Architecture Library will resume regular hours of operation, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, until September 2, 2022. For updated hours of operation please visit biblio.laurentian.ca.

Guidelines for using the library

Face coverings are required at all times while in the library in accordance with the Laurentian University Policy on Face Covering.

Social distancing must be maintained; therefore, one person per group table or the use of only every second individual study table or computer workstation. Until February 28, groups may only use group study rooms and group members must be of the same social circle. 

Only the main floor (2nd floor) of Desmarais Library will be available as a study space. The upper-floor (3rd-floor) stacks will be off limits for the time being, therefore, you can arrange pick up of books at the Library Service Counter. In Omni, sign in to your account to find the item you need and place a request. 

The Archives are open Tuesday through Friday and reference service for archival holdings and special collections is available. You can reach us at archives@laurentian.ca or 705-675-1151, ext. 3306. We are here to help you, answer your questions, and also to provide reference. Visit the homepage of the Archives for more information and to see the opening hours (summer schedule). 

The Architecture Library will be available as a study space with full access to the stacks.

Disinfectant wipes are available throughout the library, we strongly encourage you to clean surfaces you use (e.g., table and chair) before and after use; this includes when you are using a printer/photocopier.

Lidded beverages will continue to be allowed (no food permitted); however, we must reiterate the importance of wearing your mask in between sips.

The computers and printers/photocopiers will be available in the Learning Commons area of the J.N. Desmarais Library.

Curbside pickup and digitization services will continue to be available at both libraries. Requests are to be made via Omni. Pick up at the J.N. Desmarais Library can be either at the exterior doors (near Starbucks) or at the Library Service Counter, on the 2nd floor.
